I couldnt agree more. The entire Tour of the Great Northwest is an incredible sweet spot in the bands history, but there is something so special about 1/20/68. I dont think there is another performance that swings the way the Eureka does!

Its by far my very favorite show, and after hearing it for the first time, nothing was ever the same for me...

"On January 20, the musicians flew to Eureka to begin the tour, exited the plane, and found what appeared to be half the cops in the country there to greet them. Eureka and San Francisco are both in California, but they most assuredly do not share the same state of mind. The Quick and the Dead proceeded to the hall, put on a show that blew minds, and headed to Seattle. Unfortunately, their cleanup was not perfect, and after the gig, police found roaches and rolling papers, leading the local press to call the show a pot orgy."

Hey Cliff, just to add to your McNally quote, I found an artical in the Eureka Library from the Eureka Times Standard from 1-22-68. The copy of it I have is pdf so I cant attatch, but Ill qoute.

Times Standard 1-22-68

Four persons were arested by city police over the weekend on charges of possession of marijuana, two of them, a boy ans a girl, both 16, at a dance at the Eureka Municipal Auditorium Saturday night.
Police were called to the auditorium after the manager called to report a disturbance.
They aressted Donald Dingler, 19, booking him for violating city ordinance 44.08, refusing to disperse when lawfully oprdered to do so.
The managment said Dingler and four juviniles with him were refused admission to the dance because they were intoxicated and that an argument ensued.

The Brew events I had schedualed for early Feb. got bumped to this weekend. So, Ive been on the road for 9 hrs, driving from Eureka to Portland Ore.. Just got into hotel.
I must say, having that Road Trips to listened to on the road has been a true blessing. I feel like Im on my own little Tour of the Great Pacific Northwest. Ill visit my buddy at the Chrystal Ballroom tommorow.

You rock Cliff. I will toast you this evening with my Viola Lee's Wheat Wine.
The music from Eureka and this tour never gets old to me, and thanks to you I have 2 more epic songs from Eureka to enjoy forever.

Great TDIH!!
